TestimonialsBy: Marisol Gonzalez & Marco LariosAdvertisements are everywhere. Celebrities appear everywhere. When your favorite celebrity is in a commercial promoting your favorite product, you just want to go out and buy it, right? Companies use celebrities to bring more attention to their advertisements. The more popular the celebrity the more attention the product being promoted is going to get!
What is a testimonial?
A testimonial is when a public figure or celebrity promotes an item or product.

A good testimonial should be specific, believable, and should leave out any negative thoughts that the viewer might have.

Beats by Dr Dre released this commercial in early December which featured NFL star Colin Kaepernick. In the commercial, Colin is being yelled at by the rivals, the Seahawks' fans. Once he puts the headphones on he can't hear the screaming and yelling . That's one purpose the headphones have. He has the headphones on and then the song The Man by Aloe Blacc starts playing. Aloe is now another testimonial. He also gives Colin confidence with his song playing as he is getting off the bus. This commercial was meant to reach out to almost anyone with big bucks. The mode used to persuade the audience is ethos becuase Colin is of higher authority that is trusted to convince people. Colin is a known world wide figure that is recognized everywhere. He is a symbol of american football. The audience is convinced to buy this product because a superstar like Kaepernick, is using this product.

Nicki Minaj, released her clothing line "The Nicki Minaj Collection" in late 2013. Nicki wanted to create a clothing line for her fans that was not only nice, good quality clothes, but also affordable. The prices vary from $2.99-39.99. This commercial pesuades me to buy her clothes, because it's fashionable. In her commercial, she models some peices out of her collection, and she does a good job at persuading that her clothes are really stylish. Plus, she is queen. This commercial uses ethos to persuade the audience because Nicki is modeling her clothes and she looks confident and comfortable posing.

A testimonial can be a celebrity promoting a product or even a company. In late of 2012, Turkish Airlines aired a commercial which starred Lionel Messi and Kobe Bryant. Which means there are two testimonials. It starts off with a little boy wanting an autograph from Messi. Then he sees Kobe spinning a basketball on his finger. Messi and Kobe try to get the boy's attention by doing all sorts of tricks. The company is trying to make their airline more popular by having two of the world's most recognizable athletes on their commercial. This commercial is using ethos to persuade the people to fly on thier airline. It's ethos because Kobe and Messi are two respected people. They convince people because of their character. This commercial got the attention of more than 100 million people all over the world. You can say that they definitley persuaded people to fly on Europes best airline.
